Sourcing & Authenticity
JDM by Northwest uses a simple rule: we do not use “genuine,” “OEM,” “Japanese-made,” or “JDM” as interchangeable marketing words.
How we label products
Genuine / OEM: used when the manufacturer or provenance supports it.
Japanese-made / Japanese brand: used when origin or maker can be reasonably verified.
Japanese-market: used for products intended for Japan-market vehicles or retail distribution, with fitment caveats where relevant.
Japanese-inspired / tsurikawa-style / tuner-style: used for aftermarket interpretations influenced by Japanese automotive culture rather than original period or OEM pieces.
What we screen for
We look at materials, construction, fitment, supplier information, value, provenance, fulfillment practicality, and whether a product actually belongs in a Japanese-car-focused catalog.
Fitment matters
Vehicle-specific products should state the year, model, trim, transmission, dimensions, thread pitch, or other compatibility details we can verify. If a supplier claim conflicts with stronger fitment evidence, we would rather narrow the listing than overpromise.
Why the catalog is selective
We are not trying to list every inexpensive accessory with “JDM” in the title. Some products are affordable fun. Others earn a higher price because of better construction, recognizable branding, stronger provenance, or vehicle-specific engineering. The goal is value at each tier, not catalog bloat.
